Chouinard Strings & Keys
The Suzuki Method, developed by Dr. Shinichi Suzuki, emphasizes learning music by ear, inspired by how children naturally learn their native language. Dr. Suzuki, who began studying violin at 17 and later moved to Germany, struggled with learning German, which led him to develop this unique approach to music education. Key elements of the Suzuki Method include starting at a young age (if possible), learning at one's own pace, parental involvement, listening to the music students are learning, repetition for mastery, and monthly group lessons. While initially developed for violin, the Suzuki Method is also applied to piano and other instruments, following the same principles of ear training before note reading. Annual Suzuki training for teachers and institutes for students are available across the U.S., offering further instruction in a camp-like setting.
What is the Suzuki Method?
Chouinard Strings and Keys Music Studio is located in Wichita, KS and offers private instruction in acoustic and electric guitar and Suzuki Piano. Instruction includes weekly private lessons for students of all ages.
